JANNA-RIIA IN BRIEF

I am a 32-year-old, feet on the ground, nurse holding also a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences. I was born in Turku and have lived here all my adult life, but during my childhood and youth I have lived in the small towns of Sauvo and Paimio. After my high school graduation in 2009 (majoring in Music and Expressive Arts) I moved back to Turku.

Today I work as a nurse in a residential unit for people with intellectual disabilities, a field I have been working in since 2008. I have worked with special needs groups of children, adolescents, adults and elderly people. One of my core interests is psychiatric nursing.

In addition to my nursing degree, I am in the final stages of my studies in Social Policy at the University of Turku. I am particularly interested in inequalities such as poverty, health inequalities, income inequalities, deprivation and equality issues. As minor subjects I also studied psychology and political history.

In my leisure time, culture, physical and social activities play an important role. I have always enjoyed reading books and have a passion for theater and concerts. Music has played an important role since my early childhood.
